We believe in a Memphis where everyone has the chance to succeed. Our city is full of energy and creativity and is renowned for its iconic contributions to music, food, and culture. We also have a vital nonprofit community tirelessly working to uplift and support our community, making a profound difference every day.

But despite our rich history and cultural assets, we face significant challenges. Frequently, families encounter disconnected systems, leading to confusing, drawn-out processes when they need urgent help, and having to rely on multiple programs that don’t always communicate with one another. These barriers mean that economic mobility, or your ability to improve your income and grow wealth over time, remains out of reach for too many, with racial disparities and poverty holding back our potential.

It’s time for change. It’s time for action. That’s why More For Memphis launched a new chapter of its work in South Memphis in the fall of 2025. This community-focused effort is a 12-month proof of concept designed to show what can happen when organizations come together to support the same families, in the same place, at the same time.

At its heart, this initiative focuses on people—ensuring that children receive the best possible start, helping students stay on track, enabling parents to find stable employment, and providing families with access to the resources they need. South Memphis is now the first location where More For Memphis is bringing its vision to life.

This phase represents a shared commitment to doing things differently. Through the collaboration of schools, healthcare providers, nonprofits, workforce partners, and neighborhood organizations, South Memphis is becoming a prime example of how aligned support and effective information sharing can reduce barriers and create clearer pathways for children and families.

We need your support. By signing this statement, you’re joining a movement committed to making Memphis and Shelby County a place where everyone can thrive—starting with what we’re learning in South Memphis. Your voice matters, and together, we can expand this effort and build the city we all deserve. Our goal is for 10,000+ community members to join us.
