This focus area will consider what makes a strong neighborhood. This group will examine issue areas critical to thriving communities, including housing, parks, the environment, access to essential services, as well as walkable/bikeable/multimodal infrastructure. This group will consider how public and private capital and finance affect crucial community investments and policy changes that could reverse neighborhood disinvestment and restore wealth and social vitality to these neighborhoods. Finally, this group will also examine policies to address chronic city-wide and neighborhood problems such as homelessness.

UPDATE: Spring 2023
Our general approach to engaging and obtaining input from the community has been focused on reaching those partners or individuals that support the walkable/bikeable/multimodal infrastructure. We have approximately 15 workgroup members who attend our regular convenes, and in specific sessions, we have expanded the network to include more than 30 community members and community development leaders. During the last planning phase, we will host at least two public sessions to gather qualitative data focused on solutions, practical programming, and resources.
