Recap: Dec. 1 Public Coalition Meeting
Thank you to everyone who attended the More For Memphis Coalition Meeting last Friday! We are thrilled to have been able to gather together at the Halloran Centre downtown to unveil the work so far, from a variety of creative community engagement approaches to the strategies and capital aggregation that will help us reach equity goals in Memphis.
We would like to express gratitude to our national partners from Blue Meridian Partners and William Julius Wilson Institute for being here to explain their roles, answer questions, share their experiences, and offer inspiration. Special thanks also to Sarah Carpenter from The Memphis Lift for presenting on their parent engagement efforts. Thank you to our policy team and the Anchor Collaboratives who worked to develop the strategies in the plan.
We deeply appreciated the opportunity to provide a high-level overview of the intended impact of the More for Memphis plan towards improving social and economic mobility for 10,000 young people. We have attached for your reference the plan overview deck that synthesizes the broader plan approved by our planning governing body. Over 300 organizations/individuals participated in direct planning efforts, and 1,100 surveys were conducted to provide feedback and insights into the plan. The plan strategies, as well as the transition plan to prepare for implementation, were finalized and approved by the MFM planning phase Governing Body in November.* Details are included in the deck.
For those who could not attend, and for everyone in the coalition to understand what the work will look like over the next six months, we will host a virtual overview of the MFM plan and transition plan on January 31st, 2024 from 3 - 5 pm. Please save the date. Details will follow in the new year.
In the meantime, please follow More for Memphis social media and help us spread the word.
*- 80% affirmed the MFM strategies (inclusive of the MFM background and 6 focus area strategies).
